SOA and Organization
Thank you for visiting soa-change, a research project dedicated to explore the social issues of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). While most of the academic research on SOA points on pure technical problems, this project focuses on organizational questions. Whether and how can SOA align IT and business side? How to prepare the IT organization for SOA?
However, my work does not primarily point on developing management guidelines to solve questions like this, but also on revealing the social meaning of software’s architecture. Hence empirical examination is supported by theoretical reflection and by the development of a specific socio-technical perspective. In doing this research I follow an interdisciplinary approach, including different intellectual fields of research such as organizational informatics, organizational theory, social informatics, and sociology.
The research project is part of my PhD thesis running at Technische Universität Darmstadt, PhD Program Enabling Technologies for Electronic Commerce. It is supervised by Prof. Dr. Rudi Schmiede.
